Replacing a Skew trap Toilet Suite

Skew Trap toilets suite's can pose a real problem when trying to update them. As there are not many of these types of suites available, finding one is getting more difficult, and finding one to meet your design ideas is even harder.

If you need to replace one of these suites it may be worthwhile discussing with your Builder/ Plumber about relocating the toilet to a position where a standard S Trap or P Trap suite could be used.

You may also be able to use a PVC pan bend (similar to the attachment used for fitting S & P trap pans.) A pan bend fits onto a P trap pan, it has a 90deg bend which you can then connect to the pipe through the wall. Check with your plumber if this option would be suitable. Your biggest problem with using this option will be whether a pan bend will fit behind the suite and line up with the pipe in the wall.

If you can use the pan bend option you will certainly open up your options for choosing a suite that will suit your bathroom style and budget. The best types of suites to use with a pan bend would be a Connector Suite, and possibly some Close Coupled suites.

Another option, if you have the space, is to build a false hob along the wall behind the toilet. Your plumber can then run new pipework to connect to the pipe in the wall. You would then be able to use any P trap Suite.
