Care toilet suites have a higher and longer projection pan than a standard toilet suite, allowing the user to access the toilet a lot easier.
The longer projection makes it possible for those in a wheelchair to be able to manoeuvre onto the pan.
Most care suites will be a connector type suite, however there are more suites becoming available with a wall faced pan which creates a more modern streamline look to the bathroom.
CARE PANS
- Care pans will have an elevated height of 460-480mm. This is up to 90mm higher than a standard pan.
- They are available as a S Trap or P Trap pan.
- The front of the pan must be positioned 800mm (min) from the wall for wheelchair access.
- Care pans are available as a connector type pan, wall faced pan or wall hung pan.
- The set out measurement will vary depending on the type of pan you choose.
CARE CISTERNS
- Care cisterns are available as a standard wall mounted, or inwall/induct cistern.
- The flushing buttons will generally be raised for easier operation.
CARE TOILET SEATS
- Care toilet seats will generally be made of a much heavier weight material than a standard toilet seat.
- They may also have special buffers under the seat to minimise sideways movement of the seat.
WELS REQUIREMENTS
- It is now a requirement that all toilet suites comply with the WELS water rating regulation. This requires new homes to install a 4 star / 4.5lt full flush toilet suite, however 3 star/ 6lt suites can be installed in renovations.
