How can I tell if my toilet has a S or P Trap?

The 'Trap' refers to pipe that carries the waste from the toilet. The pipe will either go through the wall or through the floor.

S Trap toilets have the waste pipe go through the floor.

P trap toilets have the waste go through the wall

There is also 1 other type of trap, and thats a Skew Trap. A skew trap, like the P Trap, has the waste go out through the wall but instead of going out through the wall behind the toilet it has a 90 degree bend and goes out the side wall.
